Numerous close calls when hand-firing shows. Walking from the bomb box to the battery, as you drop the shell into it's mortar, remove the mopaline, covering all but just a couple of inches of the bare match with your left hand before touching with your torch. The theory being you'll prevent a spark from getting under the sheathing. Well, that's the theory. Long leaders reduced the danger for the most part. Nothing gets your adrenalin pumping like a quickfire on a six-inch shell.........

I have a page on the website dedicated to close calls. And these are only the ones I happen to have on video.
