He looks pretty close to Spanky from Our Gang.
Even the 2 inch variety of Unexcelled flash salutes were absolutely brutal - goes to show you how kids this young got along shooting stuff like this at an early age back then! My grandpa got his hands on a 12-inch black powder salute when he was a kid and ended up blowing apart the family outhouse. I'm pretty sure great grandpa was hacked!
