I remember hearing about this case when it happened. I'd love to see some pictures of this shoot site. When I visualize it based on the description it's not pretty. Three levels in a gravel pit with water, some mortars in racks, others buried and shooters moving between sites on hills so steep they need to slide on their backs. All this happening in the dark could easily become very disorienting. Like most of these accidents the only person who knows what went wrong is gone, but I can easily see how someone could inadvertently end up standing in the wrong spot in that situation.

What a shame. BAC .246. Gunpowder and alcohol do not mix. Every year drinking and shooting fireworks takes it's toll.............sad.

Besides the overwhelming sense of sadness is an equally overwhelming sense of disbelief that NO ONE involved in this shoot told this man; who was THREE TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT TO DRIVE; to stand down. This guy had to be falling over drunk and not one person thought to stop him. There's no way he talked to his crew and they didn't smell the alcohol on him. Who knows... Maybe some of them were drunk too.

Very sad...

When I read he had a blood alcohol level of 0.246% it was the end of the story for me. Some may not like what I'm about to say but I don't understand why any "professional" is not using modern tools. If I hired a contractor and they showed up with hand tools instead of power tools I wouldn't necessarily question their skill but I would question their professionalism.

Man that's terrible. I wont even start drinking at our 4th party until I've cleared the site after the shoot. And that party is only 1.4.

One of my customers told me he fired his last 2 Gold mining partners because they kept insisting on day drinking while they were drilling and blasting.
