I have a paper collection of old fireworks catalogs and receipts someone sent me. The year was 1965. What is interesting is I searched out the addresses listed on the receipt. One continues to be a fireworks location and the other (customer) is a residential home.

That's over $3700 in merch, adjusted for inflation! I bet the neighborhood was pitching in for an order or the guy buying was a retailer?

I had a conversation recently with a mom and pop retail store. He told me a major (unnamed) importer fronted him 70k in product and told him just pay me after the 4th. I said, they did that because you are trustworthy. Problem is, not everyone is trustworthy. Thus, that still goes on to this day.

What I also find interesting is that the invoice was obviously typed by hand with a typewriter. This appears to be the carbon copy. I suspect there's some out there that don't even know what a carbon copy is and even more that wouldn't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

If I can recall my high school days late 60's the going price on the street for a gross of M-80s was $20. I will need to check with my brothers, most of my friends i used to hang with and shoot then have passed on. can't even recall the M-100s. sure wish we could still get all of them.

I have two boxes each for a half-gross of cherry bombs, New Jersey Fireworks, purchased at South of the Border, Dillon SC. They both are priced at $3.95.

My father-in-law came across what remained of a gross of M-80's cleaning out a friends barn a couple years ago. He's been giving me one around the 4th every year. They still fire just fine though I recall them being a bit louder. That could just be a matter of perspective or due to the onset of CRS. I attach new longer fuse to the original though. The old fuse seems to burn a little erratic, which is not a surprise given the age. I never actually seen a cherry bomb and thought these were either fictitious or another name for M-80's or "1/4 sticks" (as we called them). It wasn't until later in life that I learned they did exist and were somewhere between the two ground salutes I was familiar with.

I used to pay $0.25 each for M-80's back in the late 70's.

This looks like a pre-ban cracker..........any idea of the manufacturer? The lack of a stamp ("M-80" and "DO NOT HOLD IN HAND) makes it difficult....that's a paper plug right, not silicate?

No markings on it all. They were found in a coffee can sitting in a barn for who knows how long. It appears to be a paper plug not the silicate plug I'm use to seeing. My guess these are pretty old.
