I’m trying to upgrade my firmware,, and running into an issue, I’m a Mac user with no PC’s in my house, spoke with cobra support and can only be done with PC,, but they said people have done it with macs using an emulator,, me being on the lesser side of computer literate ,, and looking how to do so ,, has anyone had experience with this?? Which emulator to use ,, my MacBook Pro is on the older side as well ,, running El Capitan,, any help or advice is much appreciated!!!

So I don't have experience with this relating to cobra firmware updates but I am familiar with running different types of emulators on different types of computers. However this is pretty simple to do and only requires 1 tool which is free to download. Basically what your going to do is install Windows 10 on your mac in a virtual space so it doesn't screw up your El Capitan OS install.

Download and install Virtual Box. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads Under Virtual Box 7.04 platform download the second option which is the installer for Mac.

Also download the Windows 10 ISO which virtual box will need to install windows. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Now that you have the 2 things you need to make this happen watch this step by step tutorial. You'll have it done in 10 mins.
Skip to the 1 min mark which is where the meat of the process starts.

Open Windows and follow the steps cobra has for updating the firmware.
