I've never quite understood the point of stash pics. The product is just raw materials. It's the show and techniques that count. A stash pic will never impress me just like I'd never be impressed by a builder who only shows pictures of piles of nails and lumber. I'd much rather see videos of people's shoots and set-ups.

I completely agree. I rather see setups and ideas.

Not sure posting a stash picture is necessarily to "impress" anyone. Could just be to see what others are buying. Maybe see a brand or item they haven't seen before.

I didn't take a stash pic, but I'll contribute this new 200g cake rack I made. Straight up, 5 degrees both directions and 10 degrees both directions. Still gotta put some legs on it for stability. Hopefully gets some good coverage in the sky!

I have a few more mortar racks with the 3 and 5 angle spreads and spacers between the tubes. Most places hate doing spacers lol.
I'll definitely be trying to do more things before the 4th this year for cakes.

And since this thread is useless without pics, I'll add a few more!

Here's a few pics of some products. Happy Family videos were looking good and they were priced right so I thought I would give them a try this year. Hopefully they are as good as the videos!

Quite the stash! As for Happy Family, I normally work on a $400-600 budget but I have been very happy with the HF cakes I've had. I was very happy to see my local place carry them. Their prices are also very good compared to most others.

To possibly satisfy all interests. Here's my concept video for my 4th show. It's not complete (e.g. didn't put the finale in there because it's mostly sky puke) and I will likely add a few things to it. But it gets the idea across.

Decided to go wholesale this year and got quite a bit. Coming from spending $200-300 the last few years, I am very excited!

Very nice stash!! Most impressive. (No sarcasm there either!) Love the 200G rack you made too. I hate people with that kind of talent (okay, not really) since my only talent is handing over my debit card. I didn't think Michigan was a pyro friendly state. Where do you shoot? Do you have to get permits and have the Fire Marshal sign off on your setup?

So, where do most of you get your fireworks? I've been looking at Spirit of 76 and American Wholesale Fireworks but didn't know where the best place to buy might be. I'm probably on a budget around $1000-$1200. I'm in KY but don't mind a road trip.

I actually buy from both of them. AWF actually sells some of the SO76 products too.

So it really all depends on what you're looking to buy. I'm a huge fan of the Dominator products, and AWF sells those. I like the SO76 Pro line as well. Their Sky Bacon and Brothers offerings are really nice too. So I buy from SO76 for that reason.

Video concept is looking good. I pretty much have my concept video ready. I'm looking for 1 or 2 more pieces for the finale. I'm also trying to get something with comets that I can break down into individual shots so I can do some cross over shots being I didn't get a chance to pickup any 1.4 pro products for that.

Cassabella's is in Indiana just over the border from Louisville. They have 1.4, 1.4pro and 1.3. Check out their website, I drive 5 hours each way from WV to pick up my orders. I also do Lynch Imports in Indiana, right now I think they only have 1.3 in stock.
Both places are good to deal with.

Nite lites/little china is in Leitchfield, KY north of Bowling Green. They have an $800 minium if I remember correctly. They have a retail outlet right near their wholesale pickup location as well. I bought from them last year, and am doing so again this year.

FYI, in case you did not know. Neutron Bomb and Saturday night special are the exact same cake. Just repackaged. I was annoyed when I figured that out, however I need some single shot comets so I'm going to pull the first 6 tubes out and use them individually. Pretty nice cakes though.

@ engineer cat ... Also add “The New Yorker salute final” all 3 are the same box different rap.

A lot on nice stashes am seeing this year am starting to get excited!

Unfortunately I can’t unbox anything until June 4th without taking over the wife’s SUV parking spot in the garage. Which I can only have on a short term basis of 30 days ONLY ... LOL

But I can’t complain to much as I used to take over 2 bedrooms, hallway, living room, dining room and part of the kitchen for a month with getting the look everyday and having to explain it was just for another 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week, 2 days and it will be over for another years.

I’ll post my stash 2nd week of June

I use the Brothers high shot count cakes for sky puke as something else goes up like good ball shells slow fused. I think alot of Brothers cakes look the same honestly

I enjoy seeing the stash pics. I like seeing the assortments people choose, the variety of products I didn’t have access to, and without meeting the person face to face I can share in their enthusiasm in a common subject. No different than going to the gun range and talking with others about the platforms they brought out.

Our little lake show budget got cut short this year with the addition of a new Cobra 72m and 18R2, but will still put on a fun show. Have been playing around with DMX a little, not sure if I will put it with this years show or not. Last year we had a FireFly unit for the cakes that did very well, but I think I’m most excited about enjoying the show from my lawn chair. As much as I love hitting the tip of the fuse sticking out of the mortar tube with the torch, the thought of enjoying it from start to finish really appeals to me.

*site isn’t letting me post pic from my iPad, will try to edit with photo when I get to my pc*

This is what I'll be using in my show this 4th. Shows only 7 mins long as I don't have the luxury being in a location I can shoot for longer.
This is my concept / timecode video. I use the timecode to script to the music.

That overlay video was really cool, and looks like show will be awesome! 7 minutes is plenty long if you keep it lit up and rolling like you have it scripted in the vid. I like it, and you audience will too

Seems the embedded video isn't showing in the post (vimeo videos don't) I found the link when I start a quoted reply. I'll post it below in case others have the same issue:

Like the choice of music! Both songs I've thought about using but try to just use songs I know others like. But I have to like them too :D This year my wife had a heavy hand in song selection but she has veto power every year. Should be a very respectable show! Your video editing skills are certainly better than mine! Looking forward to seeing the final product!

Thanks, Yea that's actually more difficult than people think. For me my audience is mostly all into the same music. I can't really stand any of the music played on the radio now a days so I don't even bother with those. I did use Miley Cirrus Party in the USA and Katy Perry Firework in 2019 though.

My wife had a list of songs I passed up on last year so we started with those. I wanted to do Baba O Reily but it would be one song for the entire show and has a lot of slower parts in it that I wasn't sure I could script slow enough without boring people.

Now I just have to enter the times correctly and hopefully it works out.

I finished redoing the script last night and dialing in the timing. Pretty much everything is labeled with cue and position so I rewired the fan cake I wanted to split up the slices from.

I isolated the slices and rewired the other 4 shots per row to continue from the first slices fired like it would normally do for the rest of it's duration without the fan slices firing. I wired the 3 other fans with initiators to shoot later in the show to help build the music.

FYI if you do this the same way the first fan fires then the second row of shells fire 5.5 seconds after. (this is the last point where the stock fuse ends). I swapped out for fuses that burned at twice the speed. The stock fuse is 3 inches that burns in 5.5 seconds. Being we need to jump past a row of tubes and still keep the same time I added a 6 inch fuse that burned at 2 seconds. That will work close enough to the timing I need. I hope. lol

yup I was thinking that as well. I do not want the shells to go off, just the comets. I will refuse the shells to go off together.

It looks like a good cake, considering purchasing a few more but the colors are a little odd. Red, Green, Purple, Red...

It's because of the photo meta data. Of how it was taken I believe. Phones and tablets adjust it when you view on there but the forum doesn't. Something like this lol.
