I think that pack is among my favorites in my collection. Funny thing is Tung's did far better in their artwork than the actual Camel brand cigarettes did. The same graphics as the Tung's pack was also used on old tire repair/rubber vulcanization kits.
I remember seeing an old RPPC (real photo post card) at an antique expo that predated the Dixie Boy graphics by at least 20, maybe 30 years and it was near identical to the pack. I wish I'd bought it but had other things on my mind to buy.

Firecrackers are better for your health, too.

On those Dixie Boy labels. Talk to any antique person and they will tell you, that image of that black child eating a piece of watermelon appears on hundreds of items over the years. It very common. The "Camel" is most likely a whole different story. Back then the world was a little bigger as far as a company searching for copyright infringement.
Without mentioning the distributor. A few year back a 1.3 distributor was selling a cake named "Wrestle Mania". Within a short time he received a lawyer letter telling him to cease and desist. The world just got smaller and easier to find this sort of thing, thanks to the internet. On a side note , if you read and enjoyed MAD Magazine over the years , that Alfred E Newman caricature image was around for years prior to MAD Magazine, very similar to that Dixie Boy image.

You can add Batman and Superman to the list also.
