Oh C'mon Dave!! Don't leave us hanging!! What happened next? Did smoke start pouring out of 100 holes in your back yard? Did the gopher jump out and make a break for it?

LOL I'll know after a few days. You can't see it in the video but there are other moles and mounds that are now flat where I tried this before. Whatever it is just started digging in another direction. I see what I can update this weekend.

Have you tried smoking them out with a firing system?

When we first built our house back in 2001, we had a HUGE gopher problem in our backyard. Every morning there was a new mound. I tried poison pellets and traps and water hoses to flood them out. Nothing worked. For Christmas I bought myself a pellet gun with a scope on it to try and kill this thing. (I figured the AR-15 would have been overkill) I don't know if a neighbor had the same idea and got to him before me, but I never saw that damn thing again. Still have the pellet gun. Never been shot. Stinking rat just wanted me to waste more money I think.

A few years ago, I used a Rodenator to try to get rid of the moles in our yard. It was an absolute blast.

I mounted a propane tank and an oxygen tank on the quad and every evening after work, I would go out and have some fun. If you got it just right and it was just as the sun was going down, you could see the flames shooting up out of the neighboring holes. After about two weeks, it was still "mostly fun."

Did it work? partially. They all came back sooner than I would have wanted.

Whenever I had a gopher, groundhog or any other pest problem I use either my .223 Remington 700 bolt action or my .17hmr. Omce you start killing them they usually just never come back until a few months or a year later

Lol... Now why am I conjuring up images of Bill Murray in Caddyshack?

I remember as a child my Granddad had a mole problem one year so he rigged up an old lawn mower with a flexible metal hose in place of the muffler. He would put the hose into the tunnel and pump in mower exhaust for about a half hour. By then you would see exhaust smoke coming up all over the yard. Probably not environmentally friendly but it sure was fun with every mole hill looking like a mini volcano.

Rodenator! I'm not sure if they still make it, but you can do something similar with Oxygen and Propane, Acetylene is even better, but easy to hurt yourself as it can detonate spontaneously.

Yeah, can't really see any way this gets out of hand.
