How long do you spend shooting Fireworks?

A.) What's the estimated duration of your show this year..?

B.) For those who have no planned display; who just randomly shoot. How long do you spend..?

I try to keep my shows contained to around 20 minutes. Anything longer and the audience starts to get bored usually. It is kind of funny how many of us spend an entire year planning every detail of an event that only last 15 or 20 minutes. I don't know how the guys who do multiple shoots every year manage the planning and logistics. My one a year July 4th show is enough to wear me out both mentally and physically.

I usually shoot for around 15 min. This year it's going to be 16:05. All depends on the songs I pick. I don't have the time or patience to cut and paste and glue songs together so they equal 15 min exactly. It usually winds up being pretty close.

Fox One - I know how you feel about setup time. I wired another 100 mortar shells this morning and it took me 3 hours. So that's 9 total hours I've spent wiring 300 shells that will all go up in 7 seconds. Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense does it?

My show this year will be 35min, I have a lot of action so most people don’t get bored, I never do lol. I also never forget it’s a backyard pyro show so I let it have that flavor, and don’t try to make it to perfect and clean.

Usually I'll spend around 2-3 hours lighting off fireworks just randomly shooting.

My NYE show was 30 mins and I caught the wrath of some neighbors and the wife for it being too long....

Show on the 4th scripted to 20 mins max.

My 4th show will be about 10 mins (2 songs and the finale). I shot a 5 minute show last night (one song) at a family picnic. I easily spend hours per minute of show researching, scripting, wiring plus setup and take down.

My show is 22.5 minutes I like to go slow and then sky puke for the finale everyone enjoys my show takes a day to poke all the cakes and fuse the finale racks and then a few hours to wire but this year I’m prewiring everything with slats to save time

I plan for 25 minutes but since I fire at will with Biluscon it always tends to be closer to 18. I get a little excited

I typicall try to keep the show around 15 minutes. Last 2 years it has been just over 13 minutes.

The more and more I shoot, the less and less I want to see long shows. Part of it is because I see a lot of long shows that are lacking in quality due to people trying to spread out product instead of focusing on quality. There are some exceptions, and it frequently comes down to how much money is put into it. I'd much rather watch a 5 minute show that amazes me all the way through than a 20 minute show that amazes me for 2 minutes of it. Right now my ideal show length is 11 minutes with nothing but amazement all the way through but I'm not there yet and I still have a lot of learning to do.
