This is my first year really throwing down on a fireworks display. My wife approved of $200, so I'll probably spend $300. I know its not quite as much as a lot of people do, but its a start. The two closest stores are phanotm fireworks and skyking in shrewbury PA. If anyone kows of any better places, I am open to other options. Phantom fireworks has the Buy one Get Two free going on right now, so I think its the best way to go for me. My father in law is pitching in $200 but all he wants is three phandemoniums. Good cake, but I like to mix it up. Plus I need the fireworks to last longer than 30 seconds. I thinking im going to buy some Excaliburs. I like that they come with HDPE tubes. Then I will probably get a few 200 gram cakes. Some of them are pretty good and I can get a bunch for a low price.

SO far my list consist of...

3 Excaliburs -
+$200

1 Deja Vu (200 gram)
1 Blue Ringed WIllows (200 gram)
1 Hootenany or Minotaur or Phantasm (all 200gram)
+ $35

3 Painted Galaxy (200 gram)
+$20 (on sale)

1 House Rocker (200 gram)
1 Wicked Pissah (200 gram)
1 Rain of Fire (200 gram)
+$40

1 Solar Explosion
+$15 (Coupon for discount (if it works))

Totaling $310

I figure we can have a pretty good show that last a good amount of time that way. When I get into the 500 gram cakes, the pricegoes wayyyy up. I figure i can have agood long show with all those cakes and send up some excalibur shells for those extra ooo's and ahhhh's.

Lastly, Whats the deal with Single shot mortar tubes? Are they worth it? $25 for one shot seems a bit crazy to me (well 3 shots with the buy one get one). How does a Single shot compare to and excalibur shell?

Your plan seems pretty solid considering your budget. If anything, maybe skip one or two boxes of excaliburs and buy more cakes IMO.

Are you planning on fusing the cakes or excals? Were you thinking of hand lighting everything individually?

In my experience, most single shot tubes are comparable to an excal with a more symmetrical break. I have never been a fan of them, but to each their own.

Nice show for the money. Quality, not quantity.

When you say "1 House Rocker (200 gram)"... Is that one case? Or 1 cake? Hopefully case.

Yes, I will be fusing this stuff together. Unfortunately I don’t have as many mortar tubes as I want. Also, Phantom fireworks sucks. They didn’t have 75% of the products I listed. They didn’t even have Excalibur’s in stock. So I ended up getting a bunch of random stuff.

@Rick_in_Tampa. Nope..not a case. New to this stuff. I may have to look into wholesale next year though. Maybe even drive to a different state. They had a 6% sales tax with an additional 12% fireworks tax. That was quite a surprising way to really gouge the consumer.

That sucks man, I'm sure you will make the most of it.

If it makes sense for you, the wholesale route is definitely the better option.

Was just about to say to not even bother making a list, stuff is selling out! Just another reason to shop early and do a wholesale order. Don't bother with the single shot tubes, they are not worth it.

"They had a 6% sales tax with an additional 12% fireworks tax." That's part of how fireworks were legalized here in PA. They put in that extra tax.
