Since I've started using cakes, I make sure to tear away the top paper and check each tube for damage before setting it off. I would imagine that a faulty tube could do some harm.
Has anyone here ever had a misfired cake due to a dented tube..?
I've found three damaged cakes out of twenty. I didn't want to risk shooting them by trying to straighten them. The same would go for damaged Roman Candles

I have never had any cake misfire due to bent tubes, atleast to my knowledge. I have had cakes with minor bends in the tubes, I'll usually straighten them out as best as possible and still fire them without an issue.

Some consumer fireworks explode if they get crimped or the pressed-in powder is pulverized. Not that I know anything about that.
