This Saturday (Feb. 8), the attempt to fire the world's largest shell takes place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The shell weighs more than 2,700 pounds and is 62 inches in diameter.

The current world record for the largest aerial fireworks shell belongs to U.S.-based "Fireworks by Grucci"and "Al Marjan Island" of the United Arab Emirates. The joint team launched a 2,397-pound firework in the UAE during the country's 2017-18 New Year's celebrations.http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=4756&stc=1

I hope they remembered to notify NORAD :D
I know you said that as a joke, but they mentioned in one of their tech articles that they DID have to notify the FAA and get clearance for the shell since it will be going up so high--and spreading out almost a mile.
Hoping for a perfect launch and break this time!!!!!!

Tonight is the night. Is it 8pm Mountain Time ? and 10 pm EST? Wonder if Grucci is worried they may take the record. LOL I believe they will go live 30 minutes prior to the time.

I wonder how they stored that thing, as shells over 8" diameter have to be kept in a Type I or Type II magazine. Maybe he got a variance to keep it in his shop during the build?

That was an awesome break. Like a small nuke going off! Really lit up the mountain.

I had the honor to be on site for the transport of the shell, the loading of the shell into the mortar, and the launch. Well, 1 mile away from the launch haha! So proud of this team and their success! It’s an experience I’ll never forget!http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=4763&stc=1

Amazing. You can tell the shell dropped from the highest point before exploding. Would love to see a ground zero footage. I wanna see the tube

Information for some of the members posting videos on the forums. You can embed the video to play directly on the forums by clicking on the little green film strip icon. When the new window opens place the url from the browser address bar directly into that newly opened window. It will then embed the video to play on your post. Here is picture I found on the internet for a reference.
