I sure went through a lot of "bricks" of Zebra's as a wee lad

Sure seems Zebra brand was a premium label that Li&Fung had. Always good stuff.

yes was often referred to as the "King of Crackers". I never did find out which company made them for Li&Fung who at one time made their own (e.g., Lion). I think they might have got the brand from To Yiu who probably made the first Zebras.http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=4481&stc=1http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=4482&stc=1

I seem to recall finding a connection between To-You and Li&Fung years ago. I think it was Li To Ming of Li&Fung who was the To part of To-You. I don't know if that's completely accurate tho. I have two class 1 packs of Zebra 1 5/8s and one of them doesn't even have any 'Do Not Hold In Hand' designation on the label whereas the other one does. I think it's the only true class 1 pack I have aside from a pre-1900 Yut Shing. Wish I had a Zebra 2 inch 10s to trade but those are hens teeth for sure!

Yes something like that and the older manufacturing company is then considered under proprietorship of the larger exporting/wholesaling company. Would be interesting to know when L&F stopped putting 'made by' on their labels and what brand they last manufactured and marketed. I think the solid-letter Zebras predate the hollow-letter ones.

Oops forgot. Here is the hollowhttp://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/attachment.php?attachmentid=4483&stc=1 letter type to compare with the one above. These are by far the most common Made in China Zebras.

When I was a kid, I loved the artwork on firecracker labels so much, I used to save the labels.

That is what got me started also. Plus the 'mysterious' Chinese writing as seen by a ten year old. Of course I loved the contents and kept the labels as a reminder. Had to be quick to light and throw a Zebra!

The quickest fuses I've experienced, although by no means too short, were Duck Brand. Loosely packed booby traps. What quality they exhibited in punch and artwork was sorely lacking in their fuses.
