I spent ALL of july 3rd poking and wiring..for about 12 straight hours... then on july 4th i worked my 2nd professional show 18+ hours of some serious manual labor... and after all that the lead asked me to help him shoot the show.. so i was in a plywood hut and didnt get to see any of it...LOL.. but man is that thunder something to get your adrenaline going!! then on july 6th my family party.. was a beautiful day until setup time came... sky turned into something wicked and bucketed down for 2 straight hours.. the exact amount of time i had planned for setup... finally when it came to a drizzle we went out and setup/covered it all as we went along...got completely soaked.. as many of you know..setting up by light of car headlights and flashlights in the rain really sucks.. so finally got finished around 10pm..due to time i also cut out a few strobe segments.. and maybe better too because the rain stopped and took All the wind with it... so half of my show just shot into a cloud of smoke.. but amazingly we got all the cues right and the show did go on and worked out well otherwise... i setup my remote station under an awning and didnt realize until the first shot went off... i couldnt see the sky... so i barely saw my show either..LOL.. i did a pyromusical by manually pushing my cues according to my set sheet and watching the time on the music so i couldnt just move out from the awning once it started... started off with 2 disney songs for the kids and to also show people the softer side of fireworks... working on some video uploads now.. trying to overlay the sound just enough to drown out the drunk guy yelling into the camera the whole time. also because of time and darkness got no pics of the setup

Great show dude...the more I see these Cobra shows the more I see this as a necessity. Nice syncing too! :D

Awesome show!!! To do a pyromusical off a set sheet and a timer has got to be very difficult. You pulled it off very well.

This is the bummer about manual cues/triggers. For me, I want to be able to watch my show and not focus on when to press buttons. Right now I have one long fuse for the whole show and it sux but at least I get to sit back and watch. But if I go with a firing system the only option I really have is to go Cobra scripted with an audiobox which is $$$$.

Awesome job buddy!! I loved it. Great music, great effects, great timing. Well done Sir!

A scriptable firing system is definitely the way to go!

Nice job! Sounds like you went through the same problems I had. Lots of rain, no time for setup, no time to take pics of setup, and no wind clearing out the smoke.

Great job Matt! You had the reverse of my 3 day schedule, my show was on the 4th, a friends was on the fifth and the sixth was a pro shoot. This just goes to show what you can do with some determination and yankee ingenuity. Loved the Madison Rising and patriotic music selections. You're on your way!

Unbelievable that was accomplished with manual firing. Wow.

The timing was so good at times, almost hard to believe it was manually fired. Haha.

As for not being able to watch the show while firing...If your anything like I am, seeing the videos afterwords and breaking them down bring me just as much joy.

WOW... i was watching my video from this year(yes, for the 40th time im sure..lol).. and just realized that at 9:50.. i had a cake malfunction.. it was an amazing ballet.. but luckily it blew straight up and actually looked like i shot off multiple slices at the same time... but it was 100% not supposed to happen... very lucky that it worked out!!!... and cant believe i didnt notice that until now

Not sure how I missed this one mattp but just watched... really great stuff! Especially considering the problems you encountered. I really like that TobyKeith Song... have used it a couple times too. Nice with Queen... I had Bohemian Rhapsody in my show this year. Crowd loved it. Great work man!

Don't feel bad Matt. Someone asked me what I shot at "X" time in my show so I went back to my script and found out it was the wrong cake!! I had 2 different cakes named "Red - something" and we somehow got them hooked up backwards. It actually worked out because the preceding cakes went up twice as fast as they were suppose do, so this one filled in the gap a bit.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

You'll never find me in a casino either my friend! As Clint Eastwood wisely said in (I believe) Sudden Impact... "Man's got to know his limitations."
