Hello fellow fireworks lovers!

I am preparing a "fall fireworks show" and I plan to use a combination of 500g cakes and artillery shells. I'm using a 50 shot fan rack with DR-11 12" HDPE mortars in efforts to spread out the show and not have it clustered in one area.

I am starting out with some of the double and triple break shells (Titans & Hyperspace) and slowly graduating to the single break shells (Excaliber & Pro Shells). The first portion of the show will be fused with cannon fuse and the finale will be fused together with quick fuse.

My question is how high do the smaller shells (titans & hyperspace) and the larger shells (Excaliber and Pro Shells) travel in the air? I am hoping that the larger shells shoot higher in the air to make for a great finale!

Thanks and I'm looking to everyone's help!

The excals and pro shells travel a considerable amount higher than standard shells......

Also, your show sounds like the perfect match for efiring.....no need for all that fuse......but regardless, VIDEOOOOO

I agree about the e-firing system. However, I have a bunch of left over fuse that I want to get rid off before the winter. I'm still trying to find out how high the Excaliber and Pro-shells travel in the air...anyone know? 100 ft, 200 ft, 250 ft???

I doubt very much 200+ feet or more as that is the height of 3" shells on average.
And i am not very good in guessing height = but i would take an educated guess of 150-175'.

Thanks, Jknepp1954. About a month ago, I viewed a website that was lighting both artillery shells and cakes. On the right hand side of the screen, it had a scale in measured in feet. That helped show approximately how high the shells traveled. I just wish I could remember the website!!

I would say Joyce is spot on. Shooting top line cans seems like 150 is about it.

Another thing to consider is the better ones will appear higher because the break is so much bigger.

Thanks fot the comment, Floridapyro. If you had to take an educated guess...how how do you think the better quality shells go?

Just some random shells that had to be hand lit due to bad wiring. If you look around 14 seconds this is a good shell. When you see the flashes you can see the power lines use those to gauge the height of the break. I would say that is pretty near what you would get with an Excall.
