Have always just set a budget and randomly bought items from the fireworks stand. Would like this year to be a bit more choreographed.

I have a budget of $300, my goal is to make a small show for friends/family. Basically would like a decent pace and then a small finale at the end.

Finale I know won't be that big, but maybe a few NOAB's and a couple 500g boxes

Just want to get the most bang for my buck...thinking the show will mostly be 200g boxes?

I do live in IL (rural IL, not concerned with IL laws) and have quick access to Missouri

I would stick with mostly 200g cakes for that budget. You can shoot a couple at once for a real nice effect at a low price. I sent you a PM with one of my favorite places close to you.

IL needs to legalize 1.4.

If you want to drive to Columbia, MO you can pick up a few cases from Spirit of 76 (order online and pick up from their warehouse). For ~300 you can get 3 cases and maybe 4 if you go on the cheaper side (they have a coupon for pyrotalk members 'pyrotalk'). There are some good mixed cases of 200g cakes by Brothers you can go after, or a few 4:3 (4 cakes, 3 of each) for some variety. Then you can pick up a 500g case for the finale. Should be able to end up with 20-30 200g cakes and 4 500g cakes for a decent length show.

There's a lot of things IL could do, but under the current government and Chicago influence will never happen

I just mind my business out in the country of downstate IL :D

I would stay away from a Noab with your budget. You can do alot with a nice 9 shot 4/1 cake instead. More so go 200g heavy. There is some really nice 200g cakes out their

I'm guessing your buying retail so you will need to shop wisely

If you can shop at a place like 76 fireworks, you can find assorted cases which would be your best bet

For the best bang for your buck I’d drop like 1500 on wholesale and shoot half of it this year and the other half next year.

Thanks for all the suggestions, decided to go with a local dealer who has the below available. I picked up a cheap ebay 12 cue firing system, and some fusing. Pretty excited for my first "real" show. I planned to do the main part of the show in 3 sections (3 200g cakes / 2 med. cakes 1 larger cake) then the finale as kind of a 2 parter with 2 200g cakes and 1 500g cake. Pretty sure this looks like a winner, let me know what you think.
