2? salute rack

I salvaged some crates from work and would like to turn them into 60 shot salute racks.My question is do 2? salutes need spacers?.Heres a couple pics of what I?m talking about...of course I will cut the height down but as it stands 60 without spacers is a perfect fit.

wow.. those boxes are great!!!! that is a good question.. seems alot of the nfpa codes are geared for 3"+.. .i do believe for salute shells(any size) though the distance between them should be the mortar size... in this case it would be a 2" spacer.. you may be allowed to jam them all together but then only use every other tube... there may also be some local regulations on that... i know the nyc codes for racks/troughs have a few things added on top of the nfpa codes... maybe someone can correct me on this.. and maybe its a NY code too... but i was just taught about this in a training program... the company said with salutes.. they only do every other tube because that was code!!!

Don't forget to consider weight and how many shells are in a case.

Even after you cut it down I would not use it with loose mortars and 2 inch salute. Those smaller salutes are notorious for blowing apart racks. If you fuse all of those salutes and one blows in the mortar guess what ?

thats some nice craftsmanship!! very nice racks.. i like how you snuck the gas mortars into the pic too...hahaha.. in that video those mortars were spaced too(not 2" but still spaced)... imagine if they had not been spaced at all

Takes a second to see those gasoline mortars in the picture. LOL Maybe you can help educate us here and/or include more pictures. Using those mortars on an angle like that. How will those be stabilized to hold their positioning?

Great job cherrybomb1, those racks look real nice. They seem to have worked out real well for angled racks.
