Fireworks will return to Mount Rushmore for the Fourth of July in 2020, Gov. Kristi Noem announced on Tuesday. The state reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior to have fireworks beginning with the 2020 Independence Day celebration after several months of meetings and discussions, Noem said.

That is great news. I saw an article about the setup a few years ago---all the racks and product had to be carried up by hand. I don't envy that setup crew!!!

Zambelli did this display in the past. I always wanted to be a part of it so I could get video of the hidden room on Mount Rushmore. You say you did not know it had a hidden room? Check this video out

During the Fourth of July weekend, an average of 30,000 people visit Mount Rushmore. The way things are going on about large crowds gathering; it's likely the fireworks will be canceled. It could work out if no visitors are allowed to watch the fireworks; just have it televised.

We went to Rushmore last year when we were in Wyoming for PGI. It was closed off for some kind of maintenance so you couldn't get up close to it. but it was still very impressive. I can only imagine how awesome it would look with fireworks.

Would be kinda funny if someone hung some giant facemasks on the Presidents.

Meh. With all the resources of the country behind a National Fireworks Show, I guess I expected a little more. Other than the last minute or so, it seemed pretty underwhelming. They should have had esgrillo do it. ;)

The cinematography was pretty poor, too. They didn't seem to be filming a fireworks show so much as they were filming Mount Rushmore, and fireworks just happened to be going off at the same time. A lot of the higher breaks were missed because the camera was zoomed in on the faces.

The soundtrack is jarring at parts especially with the voiceover sections, it feels like a music/show composer didn't correctly orchestrate it or touch it at all. The pyro setup is passable, but for a high budget pyromusical there is a stunning lack of mines, comets, or slabs timed to the beats. Cases of 40/50mm comets/mines aren't exactly that pricey and would have improved many of the songs.

I saw part of the show on youtube it was great.
It was the Souza Family Pyro Spectacular from California who did the show. They also have been doing Macys in New York for about a while now. I used to shoot for Grucci but they had a falling out with Macys years back on what no one knows. They do still produce shows for the New york metro area and focus on overseas shows and competitons. Jim Souza from Pyro Spectacular explained on a quick interview that the fireworks and articles of pyro were made special for the Mount Rushmore show which produced little to minimal fall out concerning the risk of the dry brush loacted below the Monument around in the State Park. He also said there were 5 shoot sites spread out. Overall it was a pretty awsome show.
