I've got a nice little 5 min show planned for NYE, only problem is the weather is forecasted to have 20 mph winds. Do you think that is too windy. My shoot site is two baseball fields.

I wouldn't think so.

On the other hand, several years ago this was recorded close to where I used to work. I'm pining for the days of 20mph winds and at this point if I wanted to light a few shells, the next county over would get the show. Winter wind out here sucks!

Depends on where you're shooting, what you're shooting, the speed and direction of the wind, and the proximity of "things that burn" relative to those things.

20 mph isn't usually enough to cancel unless you're in a small location, and it's constant. We have launched high power with gusts of 20mph wind... Didn't affect flight too much but I will say, they landed several fields farther away than they usually do. So consider that your fall out zone will change dramatically.

Thanks for the advice. My fingers are crossed! They are forecasting the wind chill at 20 below 0 tonight.

Well my plans are busted, Rain in summer when it is 70 with a wind--I shoot through the plastic!!-- Rain on New years eve 25+ mph wind 38 degrees, my butt stays in the house SNOW I can handle rain and COLD and wind no... Maybe on the 1st after dinner, weather looks better...
Looks like the City of Pittsburgh is going to cancel the big show also because of the rain and wind...

Well it was cold and windy, but we pulled it off. I have to find a video of the opener. My camera lady must not like the girandolas like I do. Lol
Here's the vid of everything but the opener. It's just a few 200g cakes and shells. Happy New Year everyone.

Too much wind in the Pittsburgh area for me to shoot a back yard display. I at least thought I could shoot a Roman Candle barrage but it was not worth the risk. All through the night the news was saying they may cancel the City of Pittsburgh Pa fireworks display. I am still not sure if they did or did not cancel. Here is video out of my back door as midnight approached.

A windy day was an excuse to bring 10 or so extra 2" day salutes to "test" for drift (wink wink).

Opener it's not a big show but I was happy with how this turned out. I think I'm going to try this again on July 4 and add humming snakes to it for a bit more of a shock.
