Ok so I have seen these 3? ground bomb salutes. My question is this. I have been making bombs for years wirh Potassium perchlorate and dark German aluminum. What kind of titanium is used in these to give the flash powder the big fireball explosion?? I have found some granulated and some fine mesh. I was thinking the granulated would be best. Am I right and is this even what to use??

You wouldn't want spherical, that's more for foutains, comets, and stars... Look for titanium sponge powder 60-325 mesh... Ferrotitainum is okay but can produce longer lasting sparks. Not ideal for ground use. Smaller mesh size sponge is going to be your best bet. Careful with additives, keep it dry.

Your welcome, there are some formulas that use magnesium... But that's a bit more on the risky side of runaway reactions. Used to be able to buy powdered titanium, but times and regulations change... Most places won't sell it since they can't ship it. Few other chemicals went that way as well.

A technique is to coat the inside of the shell casing with spray adhesive, pour a little ti in and roll it around, then pour the rest out. Allow to dry before charging. This saves a little of the ti and reduces some of the heebie-jeebies when mixing the flash. Keep it binary. Besides, IMO ti is way overused. Watch some youtube videos of shells from Malta or a batteria from Spain or Italy. It's not missed.
