Thanks to royalrooter77 this bill is now in the General Law committee. Hearing was on 3/15 in Hartford and is gaining some traction.

Bill still needs a few more critical amendments...we will have to wait and see.

Even the fire service made a showing at the public hearing supporting the bill with a 5% excise tax that would go to fire service training...

Connecticut residents should start contacting their senators or representatives for support of this bill...

Pyromaniac1981 It is rolling along but we need to get some other CT pyro's to start E-mailing their Reps and Senators supporting Bill 435. It doesn't take long, need to be eloquently written or be a scientific e-mail. A simple E-mail stating you support Bill 435 to bring consumer fireworks to CT is all that is needed.

Bill was transferred to the Judiciary committee and will be voted on 4-18-18...If it passes it will make the senate floor...Some big hurdles for this bill ...

Bill presently is in limbo....Senator Witkos is presently working on the fate of the bill...Right now I would say a 50% chance of anything happening this year...we will have to wait and see...anything can happen in two weeks....

Historically, better chance with the Republican (Witkos) than a Democrat. (Think CPSC 1966 ban, Democrat Pres, Dem majority in both houses.)

This bill never died...It was pulled from the Judicial committee hearings and vote by Senator Wiltkos because he knew the committee was going to vote it down. Both Phantom and our company hired lobbyists to advocate this bill through legislation..

Yesterday the bill resurfaced and is now attached and amended with a bill the fire marshals wanted ..SB 435 is now attached to SB469 AN ACT CONCERNING INFORMATION TO BE FURNISHED BY AN INSURANCE COMPANY RELATIVE TO FIRE OR EXPLOSION LOSS.

Attaching the fireworks bill to this bill, puts the Fire Marshal's bill ( SB469) in quite a compromise.. Either the FMs support the entire combined bills or they both go down the tubes....

About 10 more days of this drama...It will go right down to the wire...

Unfortunately this bill was never raised in the Senate, thus it died.. Both Phantom and our company will speak to the sponsors of the bill this fall and try to amend the old bill that missed some key points. The fire marshals did a great job putting fear in all the legislators who were on the fence in supporting this bill and it lost momentum quite fast...

This bill needs more support next legislative season from the public. Our company will try to start a notification list, hoping customers will sign up for notifications about new legislation in Connecticut...and emailing and calling their respected legislators. These opportunities rarely occur here in New England and when they do more people need to rally for support...

For the people who worked hard in supporting this bill , we appreciate everything you did and quite frankly for the first year introduced, we gained a lot of traction among legislators...lets hope next legislative session will be better...
