By now I am sure everyone has seen clips of the 60" shell that GRUCCI shot at Al Marjan Island UAE for the new Guinness World Record.
Here is a video [not mine] that I found on YouTube that not only shows the fireworks but has some great "behind the scenes" shots.
The shell was pasted with a WASP [Widman Automated Shell Pasting] machine custom built for this shell by Mr. Jim Widman who designed & built the shell under contract by Grucci. You can see some of the "stars"--actually comets-- being top loaded into the shell around the 4 minute mark. They are as big as a can of soup! There are two different size comets--the smaller ones are plain gold and the larger ones are "married comets" gold to red.
Final weight of shell was 2397 pounds!

I was fascinated by the fact that they made all the components here, shipped all the components over there... Then assembled it on site, the thickness of the shell alone is crazy.
I can't imagine the months of work that went into it... It takes me hours to make some complex 3" shells. Even the lift and break would take quite an effort. I would expect nothing less from Grucci, they are some great shell builders.

Does Grucci even do a small fireworks display any more. LOL They do many of these world record events but they never seem to do the video coverage these events deserve. Its always just these short videos. It would be great to see more.
