The firm I had a letter of contingency storage with stopped offering it. I need to know if someone can help me out on this. I don’t need to store anything. I just need an agreement letter for ATF to keep my 54 current until I get my own magazine built.

man good luck

my experience is that people don't like to give out information about storage, it's like a club that doesn't want any new members

That sounds like that other (anti-Dave) forum.Club 54 is for the self righteous few who have paved the way to get there hobby to where it is today. They don't need any Yahoo's from pyrotalk messing it up for them.

A reasonable question in these situations would be, what is in it for the person that has the magazine? To give a total stranger a contingency storage letter. A reasonable yearly fee would be appropriate and/or I think you need to know a little more about the person. Remember a distributor giving a contingency may eventually get something by selling you fireworks products. A person with their own personal magazine does not enjoy that benefit. I paid for storage in the past when the magazine was not a distributor.

Craig did you ever find a solution for the contingency storage? I am in the Houston area and working on my Type 54 application and I am in the same boat. I am willing to pay a yearly fee if need be.

Is it really worth it to the magazine owner even with a fee? Once product goes into the magazine it becomes property of the magazine owner. They then have to handle the inventory records and distribute it back. Are you going to be available to distribute “their” product on the dates they need it? Are you willing to check product back in on July 4th if they had to cancel? I can see maybe an agreement among long time friends but that’s about it.

This is for contingency storage and at the moment I don’t even have any products or plan to buy products anytime soon. I need the storage to get the 54. After that it will be quite some time before I finish with my display operators license. I live in a residential area covered by deed restrictions that prohibit any type of hazardous materials storage. To the best of my knowledge there are not any suppliers within reasonable distance from me to provide the contingency storage. I am working on finding a space to lease and build a type 4 outdoor magazine. But that’s a whole task in its self.

So to store product in another persons mag is a lot of paperwork for both parts, owner and you. You could, like in some club situations apply for a variance with the ATF for Shared storage, not to bad of a process and when done you are responsible for yours and everyone else for their stuff, the responsibibly does not end up with the burden, except the general conditions with the magazine. And I think a fee or a donation to the mag owner would be the right thing to do.
