Hello, I have been following the progress on the bill that would make fireworks legal in pa. I was searching on the internet for any updated information about the bill and came across an article that seams to say fireworks are now legal to buy and use in pa. I put a link to the site. Maybe i'm missing something or did the bill pass? Thanks to all for reading.

Yes, as it said on Kellner's website the bill passed and was signed by Gov. Wolf on Oct. 30. You can read through posts on this forum starting with this url: http://www.pyrotalk.com/bulletin/showthread.php?6140-PA-House-Bill-542&highlight=house+bill

While in my vehicle today I heard a Pittsburgh news report referencing a Pocono Pennsylvania newspaper article. I'll include it here in a link. The word is slowly making it out there that the full line of Consumer Fireworks are now legal to use in Pennsylvania. We can see the news is starting to slowly spread.

Wonder how this will effect Type 54 holders. For sales that is. Should make things easier now that there's no binding state laws to require permit issuance.

State law still REQUIRES permits to issue for 1.3 display fireworks. Actually little tougher to get permit. Previous law said you need minimum of $500 bond - now it is $50,000 bond. there are also other gray area subjects - such as display person is to be a professional. but don't define professional. I am not into the 1.3 aspect of things anymore...so not sure what else the permits and display end works other than what i just said.

Section 2402. Permits.
(a) Permissible purposes.--Display fireworks may be possessed and used by a person holding a permit from a municipality at the display covered by the permit or when used as authorized by a permit for any of the following:
(1) For agricultural purposes in connection with the raising of crops and the protection of crops from bird and animal damage.
(2) By railroads or other transportation agencies for signal purposes or illumination.
(3) In quarrying or for blasting or other industrial use.
(4) In the sale or use of blank cartridges for a show or theater.
(5) For signal or ceremonial purposes in athletics or sports.
(6) By military organizations or organizations composed of veterans of the armed forces of the United States.
3
(b) Age limitation.--A display fireworks permit may not be issued to a person under 21 years of age.
(c) Bond.--The governing body of the municipality shall require a bond deemed adequate by it from the permittee in a sum not less than $50,000 conditioned for the payment of all damages which may be caused to a person or property by reason of the display and arising from an act of the permittee or an agent, an employee or a subcontractor of the permittee.

Let's hope but with our lawmakers there will be a lot of give and take. A game we will have to play but maybe with our Pennsylvania neighbors going fully legal maybe something can be in the works.

I used to live in NY and I don't see that state giving in personally. I'm happy that PA legalized buying them. I'm more than happy to pay the extra tax.

I hope for your guys sake the state does give. I just don't have much faith in that personally.
