What do you mean? :confused:
I dont know anyone that would buy steel over HDPE, especially if you are buying a lot of pipe to fill a lot of racks.

Sorry what I meant is I have access to free steel pipe it is fairly proportionate in thickness. So with cost not being an issue is there any reason I wouldn't use it?

It depends on how good your back is & how long you want it to stay good. Weight is the big issue with steel. It is used very seldom except for multi break Italian cylinder shells because of the extreme gas pressure they generate on launch--and they are buried for this application for safety purposes.
What size guns are you talking about? HDPE is relatively inexpensive and easy to obtain in any size you might need.
