Hi everyone! Hope everyone survived the big holiday. I started this thread to post videos of your setup and show. I created a You Tube page and uploaded the videos. I'm going to paste the links in here and hopefully it works. (No idea what I'm doing!)

My setup was pretty straight forward. I had 6 main boards for the show and 1 finale board. The 6 main boards were designed with 200G and 500G cakes on board 1, and 500G cakes on the remaining boards. The idea was to start off slowly and build up the effects to a grand finale. Due to some "creating wiring" I don't think some of the 200G cakes fired. That left some gaps in the show in the beginning. As planned, everything picked up nicely and the finale went off without a hitch! all 136 mortars fired on cue. Didn't have to hand light a single thing this year. I used a cheap remote firing system and it worked flawlessly! Worth every penny. The only issue I had during the show was a cake fire on board 3. This one cake took 2 fire extinguishers and ultimately one 5 gallon bucket of water to finally put out. Other than that, the show went well. Everyone had a great time.

Picture my son took of me dying from heat stroke..

Nice show Rick. You had a lot of nice items in there. I really liked the finale too!

And I think everyone always seems to have that 1 cake that catches fire and won't go out. haha
Last new years eve i did a little 1 station show and had this one cake catch fire. I doused it with the water can and put it out. I unplugged my firing system and brought it in the house and was done for the night. About 15 minutes later I happen to glance out the window and that cake was set ablaze again. LOL I just let it burn itself to the ground because the ground was covered in snow and it was too cold to go back outside. :p

K&C - I know there's a limit on the size of the pictures. My guess is 2MB. I've not been able to post anything larger. As for videos, I just copied and pasted the link to the You Tube site I created where the videos actually reside. Somehow the video magically appears in the message like it's part of the message. No idea how it works behind the scenes.

I hope this helps!

Thank you Sir! I appreciate it.

I've had cakes catch fire before, but not like this dumb thing! It was like the cake from hell that just wouldn't die!! Good learning moment though. I'm going to have a few buckets of water strategically staged next year to deal with that kind of thing. No point in messing with fire extinguishers when a more low tech, less costly solution works better.

Unfortunately we don't have snow down here in the swamp, so I'll have to make sure it's REALLY out before I go to bed! lol...

Here are a few pictures from my setup this year. I did a show at a friends church and one in my neighborhood. They were basically the same, but these pictures are from both shows. Took some video, but haven't quite figured out the right settings on the video camera for recording fireworks because it kept going in and out of focus.

Exactly what I was thinking. Very cool. Simple and effective. I usually cover my mortar racks with foil and I struggle to tuck everything in. Taping it down like that would save all that trouble. One more tip in the toolkit!

Rick you looking good, I like how you elevated those firing system modules. For those wanting to post pictures I will post a video I made about how to do it. The pictures work best if you first post them elsewhere and then embed them onto the pyrotalk forums. Same as a YouTube video if first posted to YouTube then embedded on the forums. It all involves using the icons when you post you message.

Thanks Dave. Since they're "line of sight" devices I didn't want to take any chances on them falling over or being too low to the ground or buried behind a cake somehow and not getting the fire signal. I also didn't want them in the way of any cakes and getting blown over or catching fire. So I decided to attach them to stakes and mount them to the side of each board. It all worked like a champ. I was very pleased.
