Was wondering what safety equipment, those of you who shoot professionally, would recommend. I've heard pros and cons on face shields. Some have said they prefer mesh face shields or simply wearing safety glasses over wearing face shields, altogether. What types of gloves, headlamps, ear protection, or hard hats would you recommend? Want to purchase items that are comfortable to wear and easy to use on the shoot line. Also, If you are hired by a display company, do they provide their own equipment, or does the new hire have to purchase these items with his/her own funds?

nomex balaclava , nomex gloves if you want to lower chances of skin burns . i have a forestry helmet that has the mesh shield and heavy duty ear protectors . headlamp can be affixed to the helmet as can go-pro/etc video cameras to document the occasion at ground-zero .
above all, wear non-flammable clothing .

I use my hard hat... moisture resistant eye protection...ear plugs in the side that I'm shooting.... leather work gloves... long sleeves and jeans. I've seen videos of shooters not wearing any of these items and it shocks me.....
