I placed this post in the Miscellaneous section I know we have a few Pennsylvania and Ohio members.
On my latest fireworks adventure I made a video of the tolls on the Pennsylvania/Ohio Turnpike. You would think if you get and off at the same location, the tolls would be the same. They are not has anyone else experienced this?

If you take the exit for 376 (old Rt 60) north or south, you'll get dinged with booths. If you get off in Beaver Falls or Cranberry, no booths. But, if you keep going straight on the turnpike, about 2 miles after you pass Cranberry (where you got on 76) you'll come to a toll both that you take a ticket.

I would love to know how they get away with this because once you pay your final toll in Ohio, there is no where to exit before you hit that next toll booth 2 miles up the road in Pennsylvania. But instead of getting a new Pennsylvania ticket you pay a toll of $6.20 just to enter Pennsylvania. It would be interesting to know if any other state has a setup like this.
I found this PA toll calculator

You need to get out a bit more. It has been that way for probably 10 years. Every year they raise the rates 10% because of some bill the smart people in Harrisburg passed. Get EZ Pass and it is $4.35 instead of the $6.20. EZ Pass gets you a 50% discount in Ohio. Plus you don't have to wait in line. PA doesn't care what and when you pay in Ohio and Ohio doesn't care what you do in PA. You are paying for those 1st 30 miles into PA. The Turnpike doesn't have to pay for labor and maintenance at the New Castle, Beaver Falls and Cranberry exits anymore. They basically charge people double for going one direction rather than dealing with people going in both directions. It is obvious that it works or they would have put up the toll booths going West if they were losing money.

I know I have been other places somewhat similar to that. Some bridges only have tolls going one direction.

I guess my point is what state has you pay a toll when you enter the state. My experience is you get a ticket at the border and pay when you exit. Do other state make you pay when you cross the border to enter? I know they did this for a while I just never gave it much thought before.
I know all the advantages why they did it. I am surprised no one legally challenged it.
Watch as more and more people get that Easy Pass the gap between the cash price and Easy Pass get closer and closer.

http://www.panynj.gov/bridges-tunnels/tolls.html Tolls are collected entering New York. No tolls are collected entering New Jersey. I think there is something similar going into IL on one of their bridges. I also think there is some bridge around Maryland like that.

I don't know what you could do to legally challenge it. Only option is to go around another way. Your local representative is the only person who can help change the pricing.
