I'm very surprised that nobody has commented on the very strange looking shell that Ned is holding. It is a shell that he has been working on for some time with a very unique effect. It is called an Escher's Parasol.
Here is a clip of it on You Tube. You can see why Ned has won the title of Grand Master!
