These salutes are from Fire Art, I purchased them at the open shoot. I wanted to check them out because they are cylinder shaped. They appear to sound the same as their ball counterparts. Al. did however tell me some display shell manufacturers are not filling the shells completely with flash powder.
For example, when a "Ball Shell" Salute is made, word is only half of the hemisphere is filled with flash, they do not fill both hemi's them close. I noticed one ball salute years ago was a mix of flash and rice halls. Does all of this matter in a salute? Do you have an opinion?

in what i've heard, the bigger diam. can-salutes pack a deeper wallop than the ball ones.

The 2" cylinder was every bit as loud as a 2 1/2" ball shell. I was lighting off some 3" shells when Dave shot the 3" cans up, so I wasn't "focused" on a comparative volume. It's all loud, It's all good!!!
