Originally imported from South America and sold as a Class B (1.3 fireworks) item. They were extremely popular. Many found their way into the black market. The real problem with these was many people did not know how to properly use them. I was looking for these for years to show my viewers. Finally had the chance to capture it on video.
This is video from the Fire Art open shoot. It is kind of cool in a way because this product was imported back in the day by one of the previous owners of Fire Art.

I see the product is still available, unfortunately we may never see these in United States again.

The story was that they were shot off at soccer matches in South American countries.

it's like a hand-held triple bang .

They had a unique fuse, kind of like a wooden stick match. I found that even if used properly,as described by Dave, they still could somehow cross light the lower sections causing them to blow the lower sections apart. I think the directions also had you press your shoulder to your ear on the lighting hand and covering your other ear with your free hand to protect your hearing.

You are correct about that shoulder to ear instructions. Please see this video starting at 40 seconds. I like the ones he has better. LOL

In my opinion they should continue to be brought in as at least a Class B item. No ban necessary.

I've seen a 12 by 3. 12 healthy reports followed by 3 awesome bottom shots!

Someone pointed out to me that I made this video on the same property that originally imported them. Back when Rex owned Fire Art , he probably shot some off when the container arrived. My video sort of brought them home after all these years. I am certain if they were imported again they would find their way back on the Black Market. Same as those green India firecrackers did.

I believe Rex also brought them in too.

Here is a video response from one of my subscribers.

We usually combine a lot of this to make what we call "Fogueteira". We buy a lot of boxes with different effects and put everything in one base connected with visco or blackmatch.
On this video you can see an example of that
