View Full Version : Boom for the finale

I am hoping to get a little help with choosing the right salutes. This will be my first year buying 1.3 fireworks, so bare with me.
I want to add salutes to my finale, and was looking for opinions on a case of Kellner's thunderkings vs. their aerial bombs (pre-loaded double shot Ti salutes 1.75").
I don't have the spare tubes/racks this year to just buy Ti shells, so 1 of the 2 will have to work.

Any suggestions?

shells are going to be louder/boomy-er than the average TKs

Thanks for the reply. I ended up going with a case of the Aerial bombs. I ordered a couple TK's just to sprinkle in the show, but they are "on water", so hopefully they will be in.
I learned my first valuable lesson....order early.

Contrary to popular preference, I actually HATE it when amateur pyros try to make up for their lack of finale shells by adding salutes. Visually pleasing finales are a lot better than loud ones.

If you're wanting to end it in boom, get their 120 shot salute screen. That will be fantastic!

even better are those machine-gun foogettie cakes that spit those crazy-loud salute clusters up in the air . small cakes but wicked high decibel levels.

I personally love the Lidu salute cakes.... the 49'scoming 2/1 @ 4sec or the 2.5 finale quick shot ( 4 sec ). I believe they also came out with a 2" titanium w tails 50shot box this yr

Kessie you need to unclench your ass for a sec and let the man have fun with his first 1.3 show

If it were up to me the finale would only use all salutes starting from 2.5" all the way up to howevere big I can get. I believe people rather feel a finale.
Knowing all that noise coming from those little flashes is certainly visually pleasing in itself.

Everyone has their own artistic preference. I like a big blast of salutes for a show opener. It really jacks up the crowd, just snaps their brains in to attention, gets them excited! And paint the sky for a finale. To each his own.

The longer you are in the hobby the more you will discover. There are at least 4 1.3 distributors on the "western side" of PA & 2 more on the "east side". ALL of them deal in different brands & have GREAT product to pick from. If you need more specific info as to who they are, PM me.
As to your original post--the "double loaded tubes" are basically the 1.75" salutes configured as a "peanut" shell & have a noticeable deeper "boom" than the ThunderKings. Lately, the thunderkings have been pretty "wimpy'--more like a "ThunderPrince" compared to how they were a couple years ago.
The Machine Gun Cakes [Fogetti] PGH Pyro mentioned are extremely loud--ear piercing bite of a crack--really hurt your ears!!! I love them & use a couple in my show every year since they came out.
Have fun, be safe.

By the way Kessie I hate it when amatures don't make their own fireworks for their own shows too.

Doug Type 20, and 54 holder.

Lynch had a 12" salute at their demo this year. HOLY CRAP!!!

Anyways, paint the sky with the finale and shoot up a few chains or a couple cakes at the end. Color to salute, always a great finish.

Could do some color peony chains > brocade chains (or crackle) > salutes.

The louder the salutes the better to me but i think you should just use a bunch of Thunderkings at first im sure it would still sound awesome in the finale. Later you can try bigger and better things.

I'd love to be able to add the boom to my finale next year. I want to buy 2 more 50 shot racks for the finale and mix the finale with Demon Shells from BadaBoom fireworks, and those 2 in canister salutes that Lynch sells. That would be AWESOME!!! :D

I was able to get a hold of some of those Demon shells, and they are no joke.

They definitely blow out Excals, Electric Rains and those Extreme cans by Windmill.

I'd get those also and mix them in with the salute shells. I have to get my type 54 first though :( If Zach at IPI doesn't get back to me by Monday, I'll try e-mailing him again.

I really want to go buy some right now, even though the fourth is over. I had a case of excals this year and still think they are quite good. Very nice bang for a consumer shell, I think they're louder than 3 inch 1.3g color shells. Or at least the ones I was around.

Yea this year Demon shells are the truth.... I had a case of them in my show, and i was getting them for a very very good price lol. I still had some over-loaded pro-shell that were sweet as well.

in any case, they are not likely to be as 'good' next year . as in the case of most good spicy can shells/cakes that come in .

My favorite finale was doing 500 golden willow in 3s 4s and 5s and hammering it home with 2 2.5 24 shot salute doubled(main and backup hit), and 150 silver tailed salutes, with the salutes being hit 4 rows at a time! This was in Smyrna delaware, one of the first show I shot pro.
