Do you guys remember this story; those two eco-fascist, the Truxlers, using manufactured victim-less crimes to benefit their pocket books? Well they refuse to agree to a compromise, and are trying to get rich off of it. Either you pay them, or they will shut down all future shows and will use Admiralty Law, to push their agenda, is essentially the message they are pushing.

Dave, some people have entertained the idea of using a pneumatic system, but isn't that trademarked by Disney?

In any case, I don't see any problems as it is evident after watching the video, cleanup is a non-issue as the Truxlers have that covered. In addition, the Truxlers flushing their own toilets throughout the year, creates far more pollution in the lake, than these fireworks which happen only once per year, does.

I think the Visitors Authority has a fighting chance, however, they are going up against government funded eco-fascist in this lawsuit. Which by the way, could very well set a precedence across the entire country. And if the eco-fascist get their way, it would further justify their illegitimate existence...

...should I tell you how I really feel?

I Think the problem is not with the lift, it is the cardboard shell remnants after the shell break in the air. I do not believe Disney still uses that system, rumor was it was nothing but trouble. I am not certain, it would be great if someone could update us.

In my opinion, firework shows on lakes will eventually lead to this situation. Why don't they just move to location to a field where they can blow up as much as they want to?

Dave - that would make sense as you can hear a lift a charge for the larger shells firing from behind Toon Town at Disneyland, however. I have seen photos of the pneumatic systems, but they might be old photos.

Wizard7611 - Were talking about the High Sierras. If there was a field where everybody could see the show, then they would have used it long ago. In addition it's a very high fire hazard area. So the only place you can shoot them during summer months and where everybody can see them, is on the lake.

Also I should add, if you watch the video, some of the debris that is being used as an example by the Truxlers, (albeit very little) are items from using a traditional lift charge; t-buckets, leader pipe for quick match etc. Otherwise the rest is from the shell.

Well, fortunately a settlement has been reached, however. I do not know the specifics.

South Lake Tahoe to Continue Fireworks, Settlement Reached
.
The Zephyr Cove couple who filed a lawsuit against the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and Pyro Spectaculars North (of California) say they have reached a settlement, allowing the fireworks shows to continue.

The settlement includes increased local agency oversight of the post-show cleanup of fireworks debris and a hot-line for residents to contact if they see fireworks debris from the shows that needs to be cleaned up.

The LTVA said they would put an end to the Fourth of July fireworks if the lawsuit was not settled by Friday.

The lawsuit was filed last year by Joe and Joan Truxler who claimed spent fireworks were polluting Lake Tahoe. Specifically, they claim the defendants violated the Clean Water Act due to not getting a special permit for the fireworks.

The LTVA says the lawsuit could have meant up to $70-million in penalties along with lawyer fees. They say that was an amount they could not risk.

U guys in the states are Lucky with just one of your shows that might be cancelled, during our national holiday(Kings day) dozens of shows have been cancelled during the last couple of years.
Most of the time the reason is that birds that live up to 5 miles away are breeding at this time of the year:(

Ringle ringle:

Disney: Yes this is Disney

Caller: Hi. This is Tahoe Fireworks Inc. I would like to purchase some eco-shells for 4th of July.

Disney: Bend over Rover.

~A purely hypothetical (although likely) scenario.
