My neighboring parish has just lifted the 37 year ban of fireworks. This is such great news for the local pyro industry and hobby.

That is great news; it looks like the new rule did not make it in time for Independence Day. I have been noticing this sort of thing is slowly making its way around the country.

I live in an adjacent parish (we have parishes - same as counties in all other US states). Fireworks are legal in my parish (Jefferson) only within the city limits of Gretna, a very small portion of the parish. I have tried many times to get a permit to do my displays in better venues than the only one I have available, my daughter's back yard; all are declined. So I am faced with the choice of doing it here, or driving 150 miles to another property I own. Kudos to St. Charles Parish. JEFFERSON PARISH - TAKE A LESSON!

Great news for the pyro community. Shame that the ban wasn't lifted in time for this 4th. NYE isn't that far away. Actually saw in the local paper that in the Deep South fireworks were more popular for New Years than the Fourth of July. Go figure. Congratulations.
