The people behind this project are registered on the forums. I contacted them to see if they would like to tell us more about their project.

Yes, a good idea. We can actually interact with the film makers!

Hello from Jeremy and Jesse — the filmmakers behind Passfire. We're really excited that PyroTalk members are interested in our documentary!
Passfire is a documentary about the world's most amazing fireworks, the passionate people who make them and the cultures behind them.
We encourage you to check out the video on our Kickstarter page when you have a chance (http://kck.st/VAxGS0). There, you'll see footage from the massive fireworks factories in China and artisanal workshops in Japan that make the world’s biggest aerial ball shells.
So far, the fundraiser is going great. More than 40 people have already pledge their support! We've also received sponsorship from the National Fireworks Association and Skylighter Fireworks. Not only is it rewarding to see such generosity in the first 3 days of our campaign, but we've also received messages from people with touching stories about what fireworks mean to them. These touching stories are what remind us of why we're making this film: the love of fireworks goes deeper than explosions in the sky, it's something that pulses through the heart and becomes a lifestyle for many.
Please consider pledging to support our film. We're also available on this forum or at info@veverkabros.com to answer any questions! Let us know what YOU want to see. Let's create something great together!

I hope I am stating this correctly so people understand how this works. These filmmakers using kickstarter.com only have a certain time frame to raise the amount they are seeking or it does not go through. Perhaps they can explain it in more detail. As far as film making projects go, the amount they are seeking is very reasonable.

Hi Displayfireworks1. That's absolutely correct. We have 32 days left to reach our total goal of $38,000. This is the bare minimum we need to continue with the next phase of production, which will take us to Thailand to see giant girandolas (helicopters), small Indonesian villages who make fireworks for traditional weddings, a Philippine festival, back to the US for industry conventions and the 4th of July, and many other cool events.
If we don't reach the $38,000 goal, those who pledged to donate are never charged a cent. But if (and hopefully when!) we do reach our goal, this project is on the track toward becoming an amazing pyrotechnics documentary, and our donors get all kinds of cool rewards (check out the right side of our Kickstarter page [http://kck.st/VAxGS0] for options like T-Shirts, mugs, signed DVDs, photos, and even a tour of Liuyang, its fireworks factories and test site from Terry Winkle who appears in the video!).
We've taken a look at other films that have seen success on Kickstarter, and they've all had one thing in common: extremely strong starts. That means as many people as possible pledging during the first week of the fundraiser. So while you won't get charged until March 1, please consider pledging as early as possible. This gives others the confidence that the project will be funded, and they'll be more likely to pledge. Thanks in advance for your support!
