Hey everyone, just wanted to post a video on my mortar racks I built for this year. It's about half of what I planned but with the burn ban going, it doesn't look like I will be shooting for the fourth so no rush in getting racks built. Tell me what you guys think. I used a couple ideas I got off youtube and this website.

What are the dimensions of your base on the 10 shot is it still a 2x3 or did you change it and hey look at it this way if ya cant shoot this year more for next year nice racks i like that 1x3 design i might have to use it

The base is a 1X3 cut to 2 foot length. I debated on going to a 2x3 but Menards doesn't carry wood in that dimension so after some checking it looked like a lot of people were using 1" thick for the frame so I went with that. Maybe a more experience pyro can tell me if I made an error or not.

I was actually thinking about doing a fan rack. I was gonna make one of the 20 shot racks into a victory rack (v shape) but decided against it because it was about 105 degrees and I was tired of sweating!

If those bases are only 1x instead of 2x they are going to crack from the down pressure of the mortars. The end pieces should also be 2x material.

Its one of the things I debated about to be honest. Menards doesnt carry any would 2" thick except 2x4. So I looked online and watched some more of Daves videos and found its about 50/50 on the thickness of the wood between 1" or 2" thickness. I may change that for future builds but for no more than what Im shooting this year I dont think there will be an integrity issue. Thanks for the tips
