Type 54 BATFE procedure

Curious about those of you who have gotten there license. The ATf received my check and application roughly 21 days ago.They have not cashed the check and I have not heard anything. Figured the check cashing would be the first thing they do. Any advise on this.

It’s normal. I believe their average processing time is around 3 months and up to 6 months. There is always a surge right after the 4th as well. The cashing of the check starts their internal clock of when to complete the steps of the process, so no they don’t cash it right away. I’d give it at least 2 months before you follow up. Once your check is cashed, they usually call to set up your interview within about a week or so.

As BMoore said, give it some time: It sometimes depends how busy your area might be - you know they do mag inspections and license renewals and other things and how many "Inspectors" they migh have and so on.

Once cashed you will probably get a call within a week or 2.
