Hello fellow pyros! I am from north carolina where it is illegal to have anything except a sparkler or a smoke bomb. Lol big bummer know. Hopefully our state will eventually atleast legalize 1.4 product at some point. In the meantime I am on the fence with obtaining a pyrotechnic license and it seems overwhelming and a ton of red tape for the hobby guy like myself who does 1 or 2 shoots a year? Any suggestions from people who have been through process is appreciated. I would love to be able to perform a legal display on my farm or buy and shoot 1.3 product but seems like alot to take on. Apologies if this is wrong spot or some is off as this is first post and new to everything. Thanks

If you shooting a display on your farm for your own enjoyment I doubt you will need any State license. The State licensing procedures are usually for doing shows for profit. If anything you may need a local permit however to purchase 1.3 products you will definitely need an ATF license. `It sounds like you are already shooting on the property now without any problems. Consider adding some of the new Articles of Pyrotechnic products. Do you own a firing system? For example a Cobra?

Hello my NC friends. I would like to encourage you to join the Carolina Pyros Club. They have 2 shoots a yr - May and Oct (coming up soon). Each event is a 2 day event held just outside of Mooresville, NC. This is a very active group - and highly encourages our youth as well - will activities like board competitions.
