Hello my name is Josh. I have been reading the boards for about a year now. Been hand lighting for 5. Debating between Ignite and Cobra. Leaning towards Cobra at this moment. Just wanted to see what you all had to say and say hello

If you have the funds purchase the Cobra.
Question I have is most newly advancing fireworks enthusiast start out experimenting with one of the inexpensive import systems. Then they find they enjoy controlling the display by pushing buttons. Once you realize you enjoy electrical firing and have the funds , purchase the Cobra and/or one of the other higher end firing systems. They seem to all hold their value over the years.
On a side note, there was a mini-van with North Carolina plates that cut me off on the Indiana Turnpike coming home from Chicago , that wasn't you was it. LOL

I'd say buy the largest module you can fit in the budget. I started with a 36, later on I purchased two used 18M and two 72M, all in immaculate condition with LIPO upgrades. Found an exceptional deal on correct sized Seahorse cases on my own, modified them with the antenna coax extensions (purchased from Cobra) for external antenna mounting. Saved myself several hundred dollars doing it piecemeal like that, and ended up with a respectable setup of 216 total cues.
I have a local buddy who also uses Cobra, he may be selling me his last two 18M's at a bargain, as he is planning on going entirely to 72M's for next year. Not that I really need more modules now, but if a deal drops in my lap, I'll take it. Used hardware does show up once in a while, but not frequently. If you're lucky, you can expand later like I did finding deals in the second hand market.

Curious why your only debating between ignite and Cobra?
FireTEK and Mongoose? Personally I use FireTEK and you couldn't give me a different system other than to sell it.

Price point. I am just a backyard shooter maybe 1-3 times a year.

Welcome! What part of NC are you in? I'm brand new to the forums and just across the state line in northeast TN. I started off with some of the very cheap electronic firing systems, went to the Firefly, and am expecting my Firelinx package to be delivered tomorrow. My decision came down to Cobra or Firelinx - I'll let you know what I think after getting hands on it.
Another forum member suggested connecting with Carolina Pyros -- check them out! https://www.carolinapyros.org/
