Here is a video of my 2025 show. Went ok. I probably had more timing issues, and issues with cakes, than any show in the past. It was my first year using compound cakes, I was disappointed with their performance. I lost about 2 and a half minutes of show time due to 3 of 4 cakes in a compound unit not firing. Also, the pace was off as some of the cakes did not perform as advertised. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and any critiques are welcomed!
I really need to improve my video game.....https://youtu.be/fJIX4JlO5eE?si=K58Lj3CwP2UBPIca

Excellent show! Compound cakes. First of all you have to tuck the connection away from the tubes or it will blow apart. A lot of folks just tuck them to the side but I always tape them as well. Secondly, the connectors can be iffy. If you want guaranteed pass fire you need to have black match touching black match. Unless I’m really pressed for time I cut the connectors off and re-splice the quickmatch. I had about a dozen compound cakes this year and all fired flawlessly.

Thank you for the information. I did leave the jumper fuse kind of dangling in the breeze. Looking at the remaining cakes, I think a shell might of hit the fuse and broke the chain. When I was putting them together, there was plenty of black match sticking out of the connectors. Next year I will definitely tape the jumper fuses to the side of the cake. I may do as you suggested and cut the connectors off and splice the quick matches together. Well, I have something to shoot off on new years eve anyway. Thank you again for the advice!

Appreciate you sharing the video I know the feeling when things don’t go as planned, but honestly it still came together well. Timing hiccups happen to the best of us, especially when working with new gear like compound cakes. Live and learn.

You still gave the crowd a solid show and that what counts.

I feel you on the video struggles too half the battle is just remembering to hit record (been there). Keep pushing forward every year is a dress rehearsal for next year.
