Vintage Gorilla logo crackers

Not too long ago, I found this jar full of loose Gorilla brand logo crackers, among other things. A friend of mine who passed away a few years ago, compiled a collection of labels, data, logo wraps, etc. I thought I'd look up these logo crackers and I'm not sure if he misprinted or just wasn't aware, but stated the largest Gorilla logos were 1 5/8". I thought, "man, these I found seem quite a bit larger than that.." so I measured and they came out to be 1 11/16". Does anyone have a pack label or info to verify if Gorilla logos were made in 1 11/16 as well as 1 5/8, or?? I think most were imported by Rich Bros in South Dakota if I remember right.

Hal if you read this, maybe you can shed some light as well!

PS - I'm glad nobody took the advice of the jar lid and "shook well", given that loose torpedo, lol! Slim to none chance it would do anything but you never know..

I still have a few cherry bombs from 1966 made by New Jersey Fireworks Co., Vineland New Jersey, that still work quite well. So be careful with that Globe torpedo.........there's one way to find out.......(wink wink)

I've no doubt those cherries are still good! There were some manufacturers of torpedoes that used a buffering agent in their formula which would eventually cause the torps to become inert. I once had a full box of Clipper Brand - I think a quarter gross - and they were so old they only made a slight puff of smoke when I tried a few. One can only hope this one is still good, though! Looks and feels mint-as-made but I think I'll hang on to it for the collection. If I have a few I'd totally give one a shot though, lol!

(I apologize for not being able to upload a photo). The label depicts a smiling (I kid you not) gorilla in a tropical setting, standing over a dead leopard! The label is a repro from the originator of Phantom Fireworks, when he started out he sold beautiful reproductions of brick labels, catalogs, snaps, and Peacock Brand smoke crackers. Hey thanks for the offer, Ralphie! I do think if you were to consider Dave's suggestion of maybe emailing the image to Dave, it would ge a great way for everyone to enjoy! I used to collect a lot of labels but have downsized and am more focused on the complete articles (packs/bricks/loose crackers, etc).

Dammit my earlier post does not appear.
Yes indeed Class 2 Gorillas were made by KHT in the two longer sizes. No Class 2 Gorilla labels have been seen marked 1-/2" No Class 3 Gorillas had the larger crackers, only 1-1/2 and 7/8'. There are no "Made in China" gORILLA logocrackers known. Unexcelled Gorillas all had red shellwraps only.

Thanks, Hal! Since my post, a friend had shared an image of an original 16s count label noting 1 11/16 crackers. Appears I have at least 32, maybe 33 total loose crackers so I wouldn't be surprised if these were from packs of that count.
