Hello All,

I appreciate the wealth of knowledge from everyone in this community.

I have a question that I can’t seem to answer after searching these boards, and google.

I am upping my game progressively every year and with that comes new challenges. In essence, I need to figure out how to light one igniter into a poked cake, and have that ignition also light another cake via visco fuse chain, or some other method. I’ll have way more product than the number of cues I have available, so simply igniting each item with it’s own cue isn’t an option. Additionally, I’m not concerned too much with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th items (cakes) being “spot-on” with timing respective to the same item at another firing station (L,C,R), just keeping it close. My thought is that if I’m igniting a new set of 3-4 cakes after the preceding set, then my timing will kind of come back together for the L,C,R stations every minute or two.

So, does it work to try to insert a length of visco, alongside the igniter in the lift charge of the first item, have that also ignite and burn over the approx. desired time and light the next item (like long fuse technique but on a smaller scale)? Or do I need to plan on poking the tube for the lift charge of the initial item, AND poking the lift charge of the last tube to insert quick fuse leading from it to the lift charge of the first tube in the next item? Either way, I’m securing all cakes with duct tape (together) and staking the bundle into the ground.

Any thoughts are much appreciated!

Welcome to the board

- Use 2 MJG, one to the poked cake and the other on your time fuse using the same cue.

Thank you for the welcome. I just have to say, THIS is why this community is great! That’s a very practical and simple workaround to something I’d been overthinking for a long time. Thank you!

Do you recommend using visco shroud on the igniter connected to the fuse, or will the same effect/success be achieved with standard shroud properly taped?

There are many ways that will work.

- Personal I use sticky match with feeding the fuse on one side and the MJG on the other.

Other options:

- Cut the fuse at 45 degrees on the end and feed into the MJG and tape together

- Cut 2” Tape squire, lay the fuse and MJG in the tape so it’s touching, use very small amount of powder or cut apart some fuse and sprinkle in the powder, making your own sticky match (time consuming)

- Do the same thing above but skip the powered, this is what most pyros do
