As we approach New Years, anyone starting to have plans to shoot a backyard display? Will you wait until midnight or shoot before midnight? What firing system if any will you be using? Using any Articles of Pyrotechnic products? Pyro-Musical , hand light or just firing system and push buttons? Newly purchased products or left over from July 4th product?

Here is my backyard display from last year New Year’s Eve. This was the first time I shot before midnight on New Year’s Eve. From the reaction of my neighbors at the end, it seemed they enjoyed the early shoot as opposed to waiting until midnight. I may do the same this year. Hopefully the weather will comply for all of us.

Some of my YouTube subscribers seem to enjoy me including the daytime set up as well as the display.

I'm undecided yet. Will depend on where I'm spending new year's eve, as only two of the possible venues I might find myself at are suitable for doing a a shoot (and smaller scale, at that). Cannot do at my own house, as local regs prohibit fireworks. If I do put a small show together, it'll be no music, fired manually off Cobra hardware. Probably just a few (~5) minutes worth. Anything I do shoot will be leftovers from this past July 4th.

Part of me wants to hold onto all the leftover product for next July, since things are looking to be a bit tighter in the budget going into next year. As of now, I'm sitting on probably 65-70% of what I'd need to do a decent show for Independence Day 2025, really only needing to add some cakes (I'm very heavily stocked on tube launch shells still). Anything I shoot on NYE would need to be replaced with new product for next July, so I may just forego a shoot and save it for later.

I usually do something small right at midnight. No more than about 5 minutes or so. Consumer shells a couple and a couple of AP cakes. No matter how simple, I'll use my cobra and script it. These little impromptu shoots are always a great time to test out new techniques, strategies and new equipment bought on Black Friday.

I shoot a similar show for new years compared to the 4th. 27 min pyromusical using cobra. A mix of >500 shells > or = 3in shells up to 8in shells. About 500 single shots in the front line. Will be a much expanded front line compared to using slats in the past so looking forward to that. Plenty of cakes and 10 positions in total.
