All of the 1.3 racks we use with the pyro company are 48" wide so they can be assembled in "pods". That way the 3", 4", etc. can be put together if needed for stability....although that rarely is...

Just a couple things: as topshelfpyro said, I would use OSB for the bottom side board & limit the height to a half inch above the top of the plug in the mortar tube. Also, I would use plywood [3"...
