The best thing I ever did was just rent powered speakers from a Sound Company. It cost me a few hundred but was well worth it.
I have my own little mixer which is all you need to test your show with...
As others here have mentioned, Cobra is the top of the line option.
Regarding your question about talons...these are not reusable items.
You use them one time and that's it. Similar to ematch or...
So on your question about the shunts....if you get SERIES slats from Cobra, they come with a shunt...and yes you do need the shunt.
Cobra also sells PARALLEL slats which are designed to work with...
Assuming you are placing the talon as close as possible to the item, I think 2 seconds sounds close. I think the pre-fire time in Show Creator for talons is 2 seconds isn't it? Maybe if you have...
Are you using talon ignitors, MJG Initiators or Ematch?
Yes Rick, the more prep we do now, the better it goes on show day. Congrats on the 18R2 Berserker...I too got the 18R at first and after one season I traded it in for the 18R2 and like you said, HUGE...
Just uploaded and ran my script thru the R2, 7 mods + audiobox and it worked great!
Now....the real work begins!
BOOM!
I just use those large totes with the yellow tops from Menards. I'm up to 3 of em now and running out of room! Lots of stuff...
Very cool...He does a lot of movie trailers and radio imaging too.
Thanks Dave I just found your video on this. I never realized that black stuff on top of strobes is the same thing you see on the tips of some cake/shell fuses.
The strobes I got from 76 have fuse. How are you guys ematching them?
Can you remove the fuse and stick a match in like other items?
Jay - most of my mods are still 9v and they work great. I am in the midst of upgrading 2 of them to Lipo so I'll have a bit more horsepower on those 2 modules.
Maybe you already know this, but if...
Looks like someone is having fun! When you got your Cobra stuff, how did you order your power on the modules? 9v? Lipo?
Did the test this morning and did indeed fire 6 MJG Initiators off one 9v powered module using 2 parallel slats.
Here's the vid:

For anyone who is curious, here is a video of the test I conducted this morning firing 6 MJG Initiators at once off one cue using 2 parallel slats and cues wired in series. The module is powered with...
Joe thanks again for all your time and help!
Joe! I'm happy you did not take one in the noggin with the frying pan!
And thank you very much for that awesome explanation!
To make sure I understand: Say I had a 3 position front using one...
Thank you Joe- this makes me wonder what the difference is between the parallel slats and the series slats from Cobra? In Scott's video he says they recommend series slats for ematch and parallel...
That is what I concluded Matt....so this weekend I will conduct some tests. I will wire a cue with 4 MJG Initiators in series on a parallel slat and see what happens.
Can you wire cues in series on a Cobra Parallel Slat?
Rick-
I'm not entirely sure but that is what Scott told me. I'm sure someone here would know the details.
My guess? That is how they differentiated consumer ematch (initiators) from real...
Can they be wired in series on the parallel slats?
MJG Initiators tech specs from Cobra site:
9v - 6 in series, 2 in parallel
14.8v = 6 in series, 4 in parallel
12v external = 6 in series, 3 in parallel
18.5v external = 6 in series, 5 in...
The MJG Initiators are not the same as ematch....these consumer initiators take twice the current to fire.
Does the aluminum tape over the trunk fuse speed it up at all?
