All really neat stuff. Another member here worked for the people who put on the displays for the Phillies. Once i get back home, i will be looking to break into more professional work. Care to share who you work for?

A company out of Baltimore, but it's far from the dream job you might think it is. You'll need a license, a resume of close prox gigs and a full background check before the Philly fire marshal will allow you shoot pyro. You can get on the crew as a helper without the license and resume but you'll still need a full background check. The pay sucks and could take as long as 3 months to get paid. Then you'll get a 1099 at the end of the year and after you pay taxes on the money you'll understand why the company has such a high turnover.

When you do a regular outdoor fireworks display you are the main attraction. When you do this type of work it's a whole different ballgame. No one goes to a pro sports game to see the pyro.

Shooter license, no 54 required.

Since Pa doesn't issue shooter licenses, one from any other state is acceptable as far as the Philly fire marshal is concerned. Delaware is the easiest and cheapest to get $25. NJ's cost $200, MD close prox license is harder to get because you need to have worked on close prox gigs before you can take the test. NY lol fugetaboutit

Shooter license(s) are a more worthwhile pursuit than a 54 IMO. Unless you live somewhere with enough land and little or no permit requirements it's pretty much useless............ unless you have deep pockets

Delaware test is straight up NFPA 1124 with one exception. They require a minimum distance 200' from the crowd for any pyro even if it's a 200 gram cake. The test is easy, if a person fails it they probably shouldn't be shooting pyro.

it will help a lot to have NFPA training, OSHA training and apa cert. im all 3. and to show you know your stuff as a friendly reminder to others get your PGI certi.

There's not much leaglly for apa, nfpa and osha but having that training can only help a lot when working with a display company for the first time is what I meant.

so the new castle persons who had nj plant in vineland do do the eagles anymore/ i saying these words so i dont give company away. you and worked at one time for same company based out pa but we where out of the vineland nj plant.

No they were barred from the property for security violations and drug use by the crew.

Just contact a local display company and tell them you would like to become a shooter. They will provide the needed training for free. You don't need a resume to shoot fireworks professionally. However they do require you to work on the 4th if you want opportunities to shoot for them.

I did the on field pyro for 3 years straight including the 2018 superbowl season. Doesn't really matter since I'm a Steelers fan so after we did player intros I would leave, usually mid way through the first quarter. My all access credentials allowed me to watch the whole game from the field or in the press box. The only time I took advantage was during the NFC championship game. I don't really miss it and on occasion the company will call me to be a cover license.

Hell I went through 3 seasons of doing the flames for the 76ers during the process. Talk about crappy teams...
