I gave it a try and built some slice cake racks a few weeks ago. Each rack will hold a min of one and a max of ten slice cakes.

Nice Job! Are you using a carriage bolt thru the bottom and tightened with the knob on top?

I did some with carriage bolt and some with cap screws. Both work fine, You just have to hold the cap screw on the bottom when tightening.

Nice job! Some like to add alum foil between the cakes in those racks to help with fire protection

That's the plan. This was just a example. Nothing is prewired yet. I usually will wrap foil over a slice of cardboard that fits between each cake.
