Apparently, eBay is cracking down on firework listings. Sellers typically list complete fireworks as "labels" only; no combustibles. It's legal to list used empty firework labels/boxes. I've seen some very large firecrackers for sale, but they were more like bombs than regular firecrackers; as their load contained many grams. I've recently heard of several sellers having their accounts terminated.

I always wondered who would pay what they were asking for a label. I assumed you were actually buying the firework but was never sure. Wasn't going to take the chance of actually getting just a label.

I had people contact me thinking they had something old pyro related is valuable because they see it on eBay and tell me they want x amount for money for just the label. Probably the best kept eBay secret is they are not just selling the label.

That’s a shame.

IMO it’s just harmless fun between pyros. Folks have to know what they are looking for to even be prompted to purchase any of these items.

It’s a good resource for collectors to either pick up those hard to find things, or just to use as a reference tool to see what’s out there these days.

Don't mind seeing small numbers of old collector's items for auction. Its the idiots that sell big modern cakes, candles, and rockets that will ruin it for everybody. One guy was peddling 3" 1.3 salutes! Can you imagine the fallout and lawsuits and possible jailtime if a kid killed him or herself with this stuff or a delivery truck had a fire in back and blew up? The sender certainly would get the blame, not eBay.

You got my attention to look at eBay and fireworks. Here is what I found in about 30 seconds. This label is for sale and current the bid is at $31.00 and $10.00 shipping. In the description it says no shipping to Alaska , Hawaii or military base's LOL Gee I wonder why, it just a label. LOL
.
.
The auction ends in 23 hours. I'll post the picture of the label because I'm sure the listing will disappear once it sells.

The seller is located in Illinois within a reasonable driving distance of Chicago. Now you see why the ATF is trying to get tough on ATF license holders in this general area.
.
Note: Please do not waste you time trying to send emails to the seller or eBay. Just let it all play out. Besides you will probably interfere with an ATF investigation that is most likely going on. I added both to my eBay watch list to see the final price.

Sold on eBay: Homemade "Cipolla" firework. Made by the "Purple Magus"; a guy in France that offers through the mail, large European firecrackers at inflated prices. Claims free world shipping and no customs.

I work as a U.S. Postal employee in maintenance craft. Having seen carriers and clerks sometimes toss packages like a football into canvas bins for sorting, it scares the bejesus out of me when I see people list garbage like this on eBay. Do I report it? Hell yes. I've seen auctions where there are a dozen or more 3" salute shell "labels" all snug together in a shoebox ready for shipping. Mass detonation comes to mind! Fireworks have been a passion of mine since age 3 but all this eBay stuff is alarming.

That 4 inch Super Peony "LABEL" sold for $122.50 plus $10.00 shipping. That is big money for that little piece of generic looking paper. I followed it on Ebay until it sold. I'm not sure if I find it amusing or scary.
