You know we very proud of Dr. Lai. By the way who is Dr. Lai?

Dr. Lai is a historian and scholar who actually made firecrackers as a child. He wrote two books on the firecracker industry in Macau, that once employed three fifths of the working population on Taipa! We collectors have been waiting for an English version for years and it finally came out. I think it was a project of the Macanese government. Two Americans, Andy Cahan and I, contributed to the effort and are given credit. I have yet to get my complimentary copy, but some are already in the country.

There ARE lots of pictures, although the pictures are the same as the ones in the Chinese edition. Seeing the descriptions of the pictures in English sure makes things more interesting though for those of us not fluent in Chinese.
