Had my first show last night and i used cannon fuse on 12 que firing system. I ended up shooting manualy . The nicrome igniter would not go threw the cannon fuse anyone have this issue? ive only used them on quick fuse and never had an issue. Cannon fuse seemed too thick.

I have had that issue before. I found the way around I had to use a utility knife and shave a small portion on top to expose black match to it. Clip igniter to that and worked well

No problem..... or other way attach the rapid or paper fuse to the other and works that way just as well

are you puting 12v+ to The nicrome igniter ? and your fuse is it to big for the igniter. i use both nicrome igniter stander and talon igniter.1 firing system i have puts out 13.5v and my wireless has 4 1.5 batt in each mod. now with the wireless only 2 nicrome igniter per a mod and 4 per a que on my 16 que one. pyroliffic got your messg on my stash.

I use bigs fast paper fuse and strip the paper back to reveal the "firecracker" fuse inside, takes fire very easily and I haven't had any ignition issues yet, I had problems with the visco also and this has not failed. Pyroliffic's way works good too but the paper fuse offers a near instant ignition.

so I take a 3 inch strip of white fast fuse put the igniter on it use Daves majical tape and tape it to the cannon fuse .and i should be good?

The other way would be placing the clip on the dipped end of the fuse. Most cakes and shells now days have a black powdered dipped fuse end. This will increase the lag put seems to be an easier way to pass fire.

Agree with whats been said, but if you're using the heavily lacquered cannon fuse its going to be a gamble unless you take some of these extra steps. I've used the igniters with the pink 10 second fuse with no problems.

Exactly Hokester... I do not recommend using igniters with a heavy lacquered fuse... Too risky in terms of not igniting

Too risky .....no it just dont work...trust me I looked like a jackass running across the field to shoot manual when i had 12 ques that would not go threw the cannon fuse...thank god the show was great people seemed to forget the mishap.......I finished with 40 fast fused excals.......

The first time I used the clip on consumer igniters I had failures all the way around my shoot. I swore that I would never use them again and still have a stack of them laying around. I think that I will give them another chance using some of the suggestions given on this thread. Nothing brakes your heart more than pressing a button and nothing happens especially when there is eleven buttons to go.

I'm sure glad this was talked about because it sounds like I was going to look like a fool also. Thanks for the great tips.

I practiced and practiced .. I must of used 100 + before figuring out what finally worked... with the adding of the quick fuse or using the shave off a bit to expose the black match..lol

ok what about using Daves majic tape to hold the igniter on?

I have used it... just have to be careful... Very easy to destroy the nichrome wire.... i found tape the wire part about 1 in from the igniter itself to the cake helps. Holds it there and cuts down on any movement

Hi, With high laquered american visco the clip ignitors wont burn through the laquer. An easy soloution is to just pain the fuzes with a black powder slurry.

Is it possible to get longer nicrome wires? where and will it have an impact on the power it needs to light the igniter?

You can by nichrom wire... but only ones I seen that look like may be a bit longer is on the Talon II...
